And the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year goes to........EMERALD!! I have to say Pantone did a fabulous job with this choice! Emerald is a gorgeous jewel tone color that lends so much life to everything. It's so vibrant and elegant all at the same time. Color of the year or not, you are sure to have an amazing wedding if you incorporate a little emerald. Here are a few ways to do just that...with paper of course!

Paper Made it Pretty ~ Mint to Be

This super sweet wedding I spotted over on Style Me Pretty is full of wonderful paper details designed by the couple...who happen to be graphic designers:) From the tissue paper flowers to the paper streamer decor, the super simple details add huge impact to this beautiful affair. Oh and did I mention I LOVE this color scheme!? Light, airy, and perfectly paired aqua, mint green, and white.

 

You don't even miss the real thing with these beautiful tissue paper flower bouquets made by the bride!

 

I can't get enough of these bouquets! They are SO precious and a great budget friendly substitute for real flowers.

 

A simple honeycomb streamer ads just a punch of color to the cake stand.

 

More paper flowers! Big impact on a small budget!

 

The same honeycomb streamer from the cake stand is used as a fabulous backdrop for the head table. The couple also used the banner motif throughout their decor. This is a great way to create a cohesive, unified feel to your event.

 

The banner motif repeated as a simple cake topper.

 

Stickers were added to plain paper bags creating cute packaging for the couple's favors.

 

More stickers for great reception snack packaging.

 

The same color scheme and style was used on the ceremony fans. A stylish way to keep your guests cool and comfortable:)

Paper Made it Pretty: Whimsical Wonder

I spotted this wedding over on Grey Likes Weddings and I couldn't help but smile as I looked at all the wonderfully whimsical paper details! This wedding was captured by Kerinsa of Kerinsa Marie Photography and is another perfect example of just how big an impact paper can have on your big day!

Paper streamer backdrop in every color and pattern under the rainbow! Instant fun!

Fall Trends: Glittering Gold

It looks like everyone is still going for the gold even after the Olympics have come and gone! You can easily incorporate this trend into your wedding by adding an embossed gold envelope lining or band, spray painting the edges of your place cards, using gold washi tape to embellish your favor boxes, or just simply adding a gold bead and cord to your napkin. Here are a few products to help you add the glitter to your day!

My design process usually starts with inspiration pictures collected by the couple. Just like Find your Font-Mate, there are literally thousands of color combinations that can be put together to match the inspiration from these photos. Color, like font, makes a huge impact on the overall feeling your wedding invitation suite evokes so choose carefully! But remember to have fun with it! Don't be afraid to throw the rules out the window and get a little wild with your color choices! That's how you bring your personality to your wedding!

This series will be about how I put together color combinations to build wedding suites based on inspiration pictures. This will give you an idea of just how many combinations and creations there are to choose from! Word of warning...this can get addicting and you will literally spend HOURS putting palettes together! Or maybe it's just me:)
